Harnessing the power of NebulOuS, this use case redefines wind turbine inspection through the automation of data acquisition and processing using drones. By strategically leveraging cloud and fog resources, wind turbine inspection software is deployed in an optimal way, thereby enabling real-time detection of turbine damage with minimal human intervention.
Drones capture high-resolution images of wind turbine blades, which are processed by AI-enabled algorithms to automatically detect turbine damage and discover other valuable information for turbine maintenance. NebulOuS will exploit 5G networks and cope with data streaming, efficiently utilizing cloud and edge computing paradigms to facilitate data processing as close to its data source as possible. This ensures an infrastructure-agnostic and real-time turbine damage detection process.
