URBAN-EYE will deliver real-time Urban Heat Island (UHI)
monitoring and predictive modelling by integrating UAV-based thermal sensing with satellite data through the NebulOuS Meta OS.
Description
The proposed URBAN-EYE use case will offer a novel solution for monitoring and mitigation of UHI effects by implementing real-time, multi-source thermal data. URBAN-EYE will leverage UAV mounted with thermal sensor to capture detailed land surface data at local scale combined with satellite collected data to provide essential environmental context and better understand broader spatial patterns.
The collected data is integrated and processed within the NebulOuS Meta OS, enabling:
- Real-time data fusion and AI-based modelling of UHI dynamics
- Detection of heat hotspots and forecasting of temperature trends
- Simulation of mitigation strategies, such as green infrastructure or reflective surfaces.
The output will be delivered through a WebGIS platform, which will serve as the end-user interface. This will deliver to end users a holistic approach with visual analytics, geospatial tools and predictive simulations to support evidence-based decisions and scenario planning.

ACCELIGENCE LTD - Project manager in ACCELIGENCE. From 2016 she has been working as a Project Manager in numerous companies and participated in the preparation of several R&D proposals of H2020, HE, Eurostars, ENI CBC MED and other European and local funding schemes.
Spyros Velanas
ACCELIGENCE LTD - CTO of ACCELIGENCE LTD. He is a Mechanical Engineer with a background in Robotics and Automatic Control. He has a strong working background with unmanned vehicles, both submersible (HCMR research institute) and aerial (ACCELIGENCE LTD).
Christos Malliarakis
ACCELIGENCE LTD - Researcher and software engineer with over 15 years of experience. He holds a PhD in software development and serious games, with a strong focus on AI integration in interactive systems. His technical expertise includes artificial intelligence, knowledge graphs, real-time data pipelines, and UAV-based analytics platforms.

ITOS3D - Full Professor at the University of Salamanca and the head of the TIDOP research group (Technologies for Digital and Spatial Observation of the Earth), where he leads cutting-edge research in photogrammetry, computer vision, and 3D modeling.
