Guided Ultra-wideband Assessment for Risk Detection and Industrial Activity Notification

CHALLENGE #2

IoT Application with Variability

Comprehensive and continuous monitoring solution, ensuring a safer and healthier workplace with adherence to regulatory compliance

Description

This project entitled “Guided Ultra-wideband Assessment for Risk Detection and Industrial Activity Notification” (GUARDIAN) aims to enhance Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards within industrial settings through the development of an innovative, technology-driven monitoring system. Utilizing a combination of ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning systems, Raspberry Pis, air quality sensors, and computer vision technologies, proposes a solution designed to ensure real-time safety and environmental monitoring. The approach combines state-of-the-art technologies to monitor, analyse, and act upon real-time data on worker locations, air quality levels, and adherence to safety protocols. By integrating these technologies into a cohesive system, it’s possible to identify and mitigate risks more effectively than traditional, manual monitoring methods.

The primary outcome will be the deployment of a scalable, integrated HSE monitoring system capable of significantly reducing workplace accidents and health risks. Expected impacts include the enhanced real-time visibility of workers and equipment, reducing the risk of exposure to hazardous environments, improved air quality within facilities, leading to better health outcomes for workers, increased compliance with safety protocols through automated monitoring and alerts, and a model for future innovation in workplace safety technology. The project’s potential impact extends beyond individual facilities to set a new standard for industrial safety and environmental monitoring. By showcasing the effectiveness of our solution, we aim to encourage wider adoption across the EU, contributing to the Horizon Europe program’s goals of improving workplace safety and innovation.
