NebulOuS Synergy & Sustainability Brunch

The NebulOuS Project hosted its Synergy & Sustainability Brunch, on November 26th at the Telefonica Corporate Innovation Center in Barcelona, a key event marking the culmination of our two-day final general meeting. More than just a project wrap-up, this public session offered a platform for discussing the future of cloud computing, showcasing project successes, and forging new paths for sustainability and exploitation.

The morning kicked off with a warm welcome from María Navarro, setting an energetic tone for the day’s insightful discussions.

A significant highlight was the forward-looking presentation by Yiannis Verginadis on the Future of Cloud Computing. He captivated the audience with trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping the landscape of distributed computing, emphasizing the role projects like NebulOuS play in pushing technological boundaries.

Celebrating Innovation: The NebulOuS Open Calls

Joanna Makocka introduced the incredible impact of the NebulOuS Open Calls, a cornerstone of our project designed to foster innovation and engage external talent. This segment came alive with the Open Call #1 & #2 Winners taking the stage to share their inspiring use case stories. From real-world applications to unexpected breakthroughs, their journeys showcased the tangible benefits and potential of the NebulOuS framework. Mentors and winners then engaged in a lively Open Calls Focus session, delving deeper into the successes and lessons learned.

Strategizing for a Sustainable Tomorrow

A crucial part of the brunch was dedicated to the long-term impact of NebulOuS. Katarzyna Materka, alongside NebulOuS partners, led an session on the Strategic Focus: Sustainability & Exploitation Roadmap. This discussion highlighted our commitment to ensuring the project’s innovations continue to deliver value beyond its official funding period, outlining pathways for future adoption and market integration.

Lessons from the NebulOuS Challenge Hackathon

Robert Sanfeliu provided a dynamic NebulOuS Challenge Recap, sharing practical lessons and success stories from the HackEPS 2025.

As the event drew to a close, María Navarro provided a wrap-up, summarizing the key achievements and future aspirations. The brunch concluded on a high note with Ferran Diego from Telefonica Research offering insights into their ongoing work and potential synergies.
